Welcome to the American Spirit Quilt Project

PROJECTS THAT INDIVIDUALS HAVE UNDERTAKEN

  • Carolyn B. has started and coordinated a volunteer quilt project for twin size quilts for the children at Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Home and Family Services. These children come into the Emergency Shelter, and many are then placed into Long Term Care. They always have a requirement for quilts for the children, the annual need is approximately 45-50 quilts.

The project's name is "Each Stitch by a Million". This title comes from the label designed with the project was started in February 2000.

  • Pam S. is gathering friends, relatives and neighbors to work together to make and donate as many American Spirit quilts as they can. She has agreed to be a collection point.
  • Peg S. has distributed 12x12" squares to each homeroom teacher of Jackson Middle School, District 45 in Villa Park IL. These squares are to be signed by each student. The fabric will then become quilt squares in one or several quilts (there are 37 homerooms!). All the fabric is patriotic in nature and a variety of designs. The students will be asked to sign up for an after school period in the Home Ec sewing room to learn piecing and quilting. Several teachers are going to help also.

This project was started because the students came to Peg and said "What can WE do?"

They could use some batting and quilt backing so if there is a quilt shop/quilt guild/individual in the Illinois area that would like to help out, contact American Spirit Quilts and we will put you in touch with Peg.

    Thanks for your support.
