Traveling Exhibit
(please follow carefully)
- Open to all, but must be the work of the person, or group applying to the competition.
Limit of 2 entries per person or group.
Family members / permanent employees of the Quilt Heritage Foundation (QHF)
or sponsors are not eligible. Quilts must be constructed and quilted by person(s) named on entry blank.
- Wall quilts only. Entry must be quilted by either hand or machine. Wall quilts are defined as quilts
with no side longer than 60" and the total outside measurement is 240" or less.
- No unquilted quilts, kits, tied quilts (except for crazy quilts), or "cheater cloth" quilts will be accepted.
- Quilts must have been made expressly for this project and incorporate the theme: "Tribute to The American Spirit".
- Entries must have been finished after September 11, 2001 and be in excellent condition.
- Entry must have a 4"(10 cm) sleeve casing as well as a cloth label with the name, address and telephone number of the entrant securely sewn to the back.
- Full-view slide must show all edges of the finished quilt. Detail slide must show the quilting stitches. Please do not send glass slides.
- Slides become the property of The Quilt Heritage Foundation for publicity and/or publication use.
- Every possible care will be taken of the quilts, but The Quilt Heritage Foundation can assume no responsibility for fire, theft, or other agencies beyond its control.
- Entries will be judged on the basis of: originality, execution of theme, craftsmanship/needlework and overall appearance.
Traditional design is acceptable as long as it is your own interpretation of the traditional design.
- Representative quilts will become a part of a three-year traveling exhibit. The representative quilts will be protected to the best of our ability.
They will be insured up to a maximum of $1000.00 (unless written appraisal is sent) from the day of receipt until the time they are returned.
If you desire, please cover your entry through your homeowner's policy.
- The decision of the jurors and judges will be final and binding on all the entrants. QHF reserves the right to reject any entry.
- Filing of your signed application signifies agreement with these conditions.
- Please include the complete name and address of your local newspaper so a news release can be mailed there.
