Welcome to the American Spirit Quilt Project

WHAT SHOPS CAN DO

  • Become an American Spirit Quilt Shop. Use the Join the Project link on the menu to the left.

We will send you a certificate designating you as an American Spirit Quilt Shop (or Fabric Shop). Frame and display your certificate in a prominent place near your register where people will ask about the project.

As a participant in the American Spirit Quilt Project you will receive periodic e-mail newsletters about the project and notices of special events related to the project.

  • Tell your customers and employees about the project in person, in your newsletter or special mailings.

  • Offer to collect charity quilts in your community and make connections with charities who need them. Provide transportation to take the quilts there. Invite your customers to come along. This may be a one-time event or once a month.

  • Host quilting bees to make tops, sandwich quilts, or a tying party. If you have a long-arm machine, offer to quilt the charity quilts -- use it as a time to train others to use your machine.

  • Have a collection place where people can bring fabrics from their stash to be re-distributed to people making charity quilts. Perhaps give all donors a coupon good for 10% off their next purchase or something similar.

  • Have a photo day, and take pictures of the American Spirit Quilts people have made and send them in for posting on the website.

  • As you come up with other ideas of your own, please send us an e-mail, and we'll pass your ideas on to others.

    Thanks for your support.
